Taking your Healthcare Out-of-the-box.

Board Certified Chiropractic Physician.
“If you always do what you've always done, you will always get what you've always got.” That quote has been attributed to several people, including Albert Einstein, Henry Ford, and Mark Twain. Although the origin of the saying is not known for certain, the wisdom of it continues to ring true. The principle can be applied widely, and it certainly applies to healthcare.
If watching TV for ten hours a day while munching on junk food and drinking sweet carbonated beverages has contributed to you being fifty or more pounds’ overweight, continuing the same behavior will probably increase your weight even more. On the other hand, if exercising regularly and eating good foods that have been minimally processed has resulted in you maintaining a healthy weight and having good health, continuing that behavior will probably continue to produce similar results for you.
in many cases, one does not know how to begin a journey to health, others begin by guessing and hoping that they get a better result. If you desire different health results than you’ve been getting, you’re probably going to have to change some behaviors. You may need to think outside of the box you’re inhabiting. The good news is that there is help!

Out-of-the-box thinkers in healthcare history.
Healthcare history is full of innovators who thought outside the box. Their important contributions have helped many people to live healthier and happier lives. Here are a few examples.
William K. Kellogg was best known as the founder of the Kellogg Company, which has been producing a wide variety of popular breakfast cereals since the end of the nineteenth century. His focus was on whole grain cereals, a healthier alternative than most people had available to them at the time. His invention of corn flakes changed breakfast forever.
Joseph Michael Mercola is a renowned proponent of alternative medicine. He has been critical of the overuse of prescription medicines and the overuse of surgery for the treatment of diseases. Instead, he advocates the use of dietary supplements to address many of the health issues that people face.
Dr. Nickolas Gonzalez ran a private practice in New York City, where he provided customized nutritional regimens for various types cancers. He also developed treatments for allergies and illnesses, including Lyme disease, autoimmune disorders, and chronic fatigue.
Dr. Max Gerson is the creator of The Gerson Therapy which activates the body’s ability to heal itself through an organic diet, raw juices, and natural supplements. Dr. Gerson’s technique treats toxicity and nutritional deficiencies which are the underlying causes of many diseases.
Dr. Paul C. Eck pioneered many innovations in the study of trace mineral deficiencies and excesses and their relationship to various metabolic dysfunctions associated with the disease.

Take ownership of your health
Accidents can happen, but sickness usually doesn't just happen. People allow it to happen by not taking care of themselves, developing bad habits in diet, not exercising, ignoring warning signs, etc. Good health really isn’t a coincidence either.
People know that success is not something that can be taken for granted. People make plans for their educations and their careers all the time. People also plan for their financial well-being. They document their objectives and take steps to achieve them. People who are in business make short term plans, annual plans, and five-year plans for growth in their businesses.
Unfortunately, many people spend less time planning for their own wellness than they spend in a variety of other pursuits throughout their lives. People may spend more time planning an annual holiday party or the purchase of a new vehicle than they spend seriously thinking about their health and what they can do to improve it. The fact is, the most valuable asset you have is your health!
None of us should take our health for granted. Each of us is responsible for taking care of our own body. For example, if you are overweight, you are the only person who can do something about that. Your spouse or partner can try to persuade you to pay more attention to what you eat, but you are the person who has to do it. Likewise, if you have high blood pressure or some other condition, you are the only person who can truly do something about that.
Setting goals for health and wellbeing is as important as planning for any other area of our lives. Since health issues can interfere with other areas of our lives, it’s actually more important. Developing health objectives and then taking steps to achieve them is one of the keys to having a healthy life for the long term.

  2. Interesting to see that William Kellogg desire was to create a healthier alternative than most people had available to them at the time. Now most of the breakfast cereals are full of sugar.
