We planned Our Health and Wellness Open House for months and it was a smashing success. The weather was perfect and people learned how their lives could be transformed. Whether people were suffering from back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, being overweight, sore muscles, poor nutrition, and so many other issues, Vibrant Life Health Center’s Open House showcased the services they provide that can help.
There were also many vendors which partner with Vibrant Life to help people be their best! The event was attended by almost 200 people who were actively seeking new ways to pursue better health. Among the Vibrant Life services showcased was the NutriMost Program.

Reset Your Body with NutriMost
Lots of people who want to lose weight were able to find out what makes NutriMost different from other weight loss programs. This is the time of year when people plan outings to the beach or just out to a pool, and they want to look their best as they do that.
With other weight loss programs, a person can lose a lot of weight and then their body puts a stop to that. The body has a set point, which is the person’s weight before they lost any pounds, and the body wants to get back to that point. For weight loss to be permanent, you have to reset your hypothalamus and balance your body to create a new set point for your weight.
When you lose weight the right way, you can lose a lot of weight and lose it fast. We start with tests to determine each individual’s optimal fat-burning zone. We essentially ask the body what needs to change in order for it to burn the fat. When you know what to look for, the body will tell you what is needed.
Once we know that, we can give the body the personalized synergistic supplements it needs. Nutrimost also has the technology to determine what foods the body prefers in order to stay in the fat-burning zone. We’ll give you a list of foods that will keep you burning fat and which foods will take you out of the zone. While other programs focus only on food, NutriMost focuses on our proven technology and balancing the body.

Body Composition Analysis
During the open house many individuals received a Body Composition Analysis (BCA). A BCA shows in-depth information about a person’s health and metabolism. A BCA can also help people to understand why so many attempts at losing weight fall short. People were able to see how much abnormal fat is currently on their bodies and how much fat is involved with vital organs like the heart, lungs, kidneys, etc.
A BCA also gives people an understanding of metabolic age, which refers to the age a person’s cells are functioning at. People are usually astonished when they see the difference between their actual birth age and their metabolic age. Fear not! If you missed the open house, you can schedule a BCA by calling the office!
Tytron Scans
Tytron Scans were free and they were a big hit at the open house. The Tytron Scan shows how well the central nervous system is functioning and where problem areas may be causing pain or dysfunction. The central nervous system passes through the entire spine. A human being’s life force flows from above, down, and inside out! It’s very important to understand how effectively the information is flowing. Breakdowns in the central nervous system can result in digestive issues, headaches, weakness or numbness in the hands, and other undesirable symptoms.
After receiving a Tytron Scan, people were able to review specific problems identified by the scan. The correlation between poor health and poor nervous system flow is amazing to most people. Vibrant Life Health Center performs these evaluations on all new patients interested in chiropractic services. Call today to schedule your nervous system evaluation!

Juice Plus and Garden Towers
On the Nutritional front, Juice Plus was on hand discussing key ingredients for a healthy diet. They showed people how, in a few simple steps, they can meet and surpass all of their daily requirements for vitamins, minerals, and vegetables! Our friends from Juice Plus also demonstrated their Garden Towers, systems which make it possible to garden in any household.
Garden Towers provide a compact and dirt-free system which produces a healthy and pure way to get fresh fruits and vegetables to your table. Vibrant Life Health Center is a distributor of these products. We’ll be more than happy to show how to use them for improved nutrition.
Renaissance Massage
Zyra Assaro, LMT for Renaissance Massage, which is located within the Vibrant Life Health Center, shared the importance of various types of massage. She demonstrated different techniques as well as other services she provides. Those include ionic detox baths, ear candling, and more! Zyra utilizes specific essential oils within her massages to address whatever challenges a patient may be experiencing. Zyra truly takes massage to the next level of health.
Aromatherapy, Raindrop Therapy, and Essential Oils
The open house also gave us an opportunity to show off some of our newest services. Those include Aromatherapy and Raindrop Therapy. In the near future, we’ll be offering classes on Essential Oils. These classes will open the door for people to discover this powerful and specific tool for improved health! Pat Wanas was on hand to tell people about these new services and share testimonies of how people have been helped through these techniques.
Functional Medicine
Our Functional Medicine program was also featured. Functional Medicine involves specific testing to address micro and macro nutrients, thyroid functions, hormone imbalances, and cardiac health. Testing is also available to identify many other health situations which can be addressed with customized plans.
If you missed this event, there is always an opportunity to come in and discuss any problems you may be having. The team at Vibrant Life Health Center will direct you to the appropriate and most effective approach for improving your health. Call today to set up an appointment and to get started on the path to better health.

Functional Medicine

by Dr. Jon Thomas, DC, PSc.D, Board Certified Chiropractic Physician.

Dr. Jeffrey Bland and Susan Bland
“What’s above ground is easier to see and, in many ways, easier to treat. But unless you dig down and uproot the weed, you’ll never contain it; you’ll only stunt its growth.” Jeffrey Bland, PhD, Founder of the Institute for Functional Medicine, as quoted in  Experience Life Magazine
One of the reasons so many people are suffering with poor health these days is that we have not been educated on the definition of true health.  When people understand what health really is, they can actually create their own wellness philosophy and determine which lifestyle approaches are best for them.
What is health?
One core definition of health is “a state of normal function.” If you wish to improve your health, you must first find out what it is that causes you to function optimally. People are more interested than ever before in biking, swimming, running, doing yoga, lifting weights, taking supplements, and proper diet. Most people have begun to realize that they must play an active role in their own health if they want to keep it or get it back. Some of the most common health objectives include:
  • Enhancing overall well-being
  • Overcoming and preventing illness
  • Improving energy level and appearance
  • Increasing the length and quality of life

However, none of these goals cause the human body to function. To find what really causes you to function nominally, you must first determine what is abnormal in your anatomy.
The Central Nervous System (CNS) is composed of the brain, spinal cord, and spinal nerves. The CNS controls all functions and healing in the human body. To have normal function - a requirement for good health - the CNS must work without damage or interference.
There is a continuous flow of information from the brain to the rest of the body and from the organs back to the brain. When the head is in an abnormal position or there’s a misalignment of individual vertebrae, it will interfere with the flow of information to and from the brain. This interference keeps the organs from functioning normally.
A healthy spine is one of the keys to having a healthy life. It’s also a very important part of Functional Medicine.
What is Functional Medicine?
Functional Medicine is an approach to health which addresses the whole person, not just whatever symptoms may be bothering someone at any given time.  At Vibrant Life Health Center, we spend time with our patients listening to them and assessing the numerous factors that are influencing their long-term health. We believe that working in close partnership with our patients will help them to achieve their fitness and health goals.
The Institute of Functional Medicine, which was established in the 1990s, asserts that:
  • Functional Medicine offers a powerful new system model for the assessment, treatment, and prevention of chronic disease. It is replacing the outdated and acute-care models from the 20th century.
  • Functional Medicine utilizes the latest in genetic science, systems biology, and understanding of how environmental and lifestyle factors influence the progression of disease.
  • Functional Medicine is enabling physicians and other health professionals to practice personalized medicine. It empowers patients to take an active role in their own health.
Why Functional Medicine?
Most physicians are oriented toward the diagnosis and treatment of trauma or illness that needs to be treated immediately. This is referred to as “acute care” and it includes everything from heart attacks to broken bones. Physicians apply specific treatments, such as drugs or surgery, that aim to treat the immediate problem.

However, the acute-care approach to medicine is ill equipped to address chronic disease. Acute care does not normally take into account factors like stress, diet, and exposure to toxins. Many physicians have no training to assess the underlying causes of complex, chronic diseases. They don’t apply strategies like nutrition, diet, and exercise to treat and prevent illnesses.
Essential Components of Functional Medicine
  • Get the patient’s complete story
  • Identify and address the patient’s lifestyle factors as well as any undesirable environmental factors
  • Address any clinical imbalance the patient may have
  • Establish a working partnership between practitioner and patient.
What is Biofeedback Technology and how does it help patients?
Courtesy undergroundhealthreporter.com
Biofeedback is one of the many tools we use at Vibrant Life Health Center to help patients achieve their health and fitness goals. It ties right in with Functional Medicine. Mayo Clinic has a good definition of biofeedback on their website.
“Biofeedback is a technique you can use to learn to control your body's functions, such as your heart rate. With biofeedback, you're connected to electrical sensors that help you receive information (feedback) about your body (bio). This feedback helps you focus on making subtle changes in your body, such as relaxing certain muscles, to achieve the results you want, such as reducing pain. In essence, biofeedback gives you the power to use your thoughts to control your body, often to improve a health condition or physical performance.” Mayo Clinic
Relaxing sounds like it should be easy, but for a lot of people it’s not. At Vibrant Life, we use biofeedback to help patients train themselves on how to relax. We also use biofeedback to help patients modify their behavior in situations that may cause stress and anxiety.
