by Dr. Jon Thomas, DC, PSc. D, Board Certified Chiropractic Physician.
For some time, we have been planning on hosting an open house to introduce ourselves to people in the surrounding community who are not yet familiar with Vibrant Life Health Center and with the spectrum of services we provide. I’m very excited to announce that we will be having a Health and Wellness Open House from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 21st.
http://vibrantlifehealthcenter.com/
The event will be at Vibrant Life Health Center, 12627 San Jose Blvd., Suite 502. We’ll be doing Tytron nerve scans for free and we’ll be offering a body composition analysis for $20, which is a big discount off the regular fee. We’ll also be giving away the NutriMost program to one fortunate person who will have the opportunity to lose twenty pounds or more in just forty days. Look for details to enter on our Facebook pages (https://www.facebook.com/vibrantlifehealthcenterjax/)  or on our TV segments on First Coast Living Tuesdays at 11:00 a.m. or 2:00 p.m.
We will have refreshments and we’ll be giving away a Whole Foods gift card for $250. There probably aren’t very many people who wouldn’t like to have one of those!  Other items to be given away include an Urban Coffeehouse Gift Card, a Beauty Package from Metamorphosis Salon, and Massages by Zyra.
Also, several Chiropractic patients will be on hand sharing their stories. If you’re curious about how chiropractic treatment can put your body, and your life, back into alignment, this will be an opportunity to talk to people for whom treatment has made a significant difference.
Several NutriMost patients will also be at the event telling their stories of losing twenty pounds or more in just forty days. Real people with real stories! Anyone who is interested in NutriMost will be able to see how people look after NutriMost and ask them if it really works and whether they’re keeping the weight off.
Memorial Day is Coming Up: Time to lay unwanted pounds to rest with NutriMost.
It’s hard to believe that Memorial Day is only a few weeks away! With the weather warming up, people are looking forward to spending time around pools and taking trips to the beautiful beaches of Northeast Florida. It’s time for fun in the sun and time to try to get back into a bathing suit. Or, just as importantly, to look good in a bathing suit.
That intro may have seemed a bit shallow, but the fact is that most people like looking good, whether that’s in business attire, at a Jaguars’ game, or at the beach. The problem is that many people gain weight over time, and most have a hard time shedding unwanted pounds.
The good news is that there is one program that has helped many people to lose the weight in Jacksonville. It’s called NutriMost and it is the ultimate program for burning off the fat.
In the past few months, 10 patients have lost 431 pounds!
Losing forty pounds in forty days truly is a game-changer in terms of health and wellness. It’s beyond the level of weight loss most people can envision in such a short period of time. Yet people have been doing it with some regularity with NutriMost.
When you change your body, it changes your perspective on what you’re capable of doing. It changes your outlook on what you’re going to be able to do this year. It’s really exciting to watch people as the light of awareness turns on for them.
At Vibrant Life, we are always looking for ways to be more effective and more efficient. Everything we do, we do for the patients. There are several tools that we use to transform our clients’ bodies into fat-burning machines. Whether a patient wants to lose twenty pounds, or sixty, or eight, or a hundred, we can customize the program to the patient’s objectives.
NutriMost focuses on real food, not shakes or food out of boxes. There are no injections, medications, or surgeries. We show people how their bodies are really working. They learn about the different ways in which their bodies may be out of balance with regard to nutrients and hormones.
NutriMost works within the patient’s body so that, in the end, the metabolism is completely reset. Once people finish a cycle with NutriMost, their metabolism continues to hum along. They don’t gain the weight back because their bodies are working at a whole different level.
The technology of NutriMost enables us to see the fat metabolism in patients’ bodies. We uncover the deficiencies, the interferences, and the imbalances that are preventing their bodies from working optimally. Once we see exactly what the challenges are, we can specifically adjust the program to address those issues. NutriMost reboots the body’s ability to burn fat.
Just like making a key to start your car, NutriMost is like making a key to turn on the metabolism and get the body functioning properly. NutriMost provides a customized list of what you can eat while you’re on the program and what foods you should be cautious about. For example, I have discovered that salmon is one food that simply doesn’t work well with my physiology. Salmon causes a problem, so I avoid it. It’s not complicated.
NutriMost gives people an awareness of what specific foods cause problems for them. It’s one of the biggest reasons NutriMost is working so well for so many people. Armed with that information, they have a much better chance at losing weight and keeping it off.

Micronutrient Testing and Hormone Testing

by Dr. Jon Thomas, DC, PSc.D, Board Certified Chiropractic Physician.
To get an accurate picture of what’s going on with our patients, Vibrant Life Health Center uses several tests. These tests are easy. You don’t have to study or bring a number two pencil.
Micronutrients
Intake of Nutrients, one element in the SHIFT Paradigm that I recently wrote about, is one of the keys to maintaining good health. Vitamin, mineral, and antioxidant deficiencies have a profound effect on the immune system. These deficiencies can leave people vulnerable to diseases, including cancer, arthritis, diabetes, and heart disease.
Lots of people think that taking a daily multivitamin is sufficient to make up for any deficiencies they might have. However - and this is amazing when you think about it – as many as half of the people who take multivitamins are still nutritionally deficient. How is it possible that people who lead relatively healthy lifestyles and take vitamins still have deficiencies? There are several factors that come into play.
Biochemical Individuality: Every human being is biochemically and metabolically unique. None of us are exactly the same. The micronutrients that one person requires for his or her body to work well can be very different from the combination of nutrients another person needs.
Absorption: Even when people eat a healthy and balanced diet, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants may not be absorbed properly. When important nutrients are not absorbed, they’re not doing a person any good.
Aging: A person’s needs for micronutrients change as they get older. It’s inevitable that our bodies will change over time. The micronutrient requirements of someone at age 30 are very different from what they need at 50. For example, it’s very common for people to have increasing difficulty absorbing what their bodies need as they get older.
Lifestyle: Habits like smoking and drinking alcohol have a significant effect on a person’s need for micronutrients. Prescription drugs, excessive physical activity or too little physical activity can also have a serious impact on micronutrient requirements.
SpectraCell Testing of Micronutrients
http://vibrantlifehealthcenter.com/Many people are deficient in micronutrients and don’t even know it. To get an accurate look at how micronutrients are actually functioning in the patients' white blood cells, Vibrant Life Health Center can run two excellent tests through SpectraCell Laboratories. These are the most advanced diagnostic tools available.
The SPECTROX™ panel measures Total Antioxidant Function.
The IMMUNIDEX™ panel measures Immune Response Score.
These tests measure deficiencies at the cellular level. They provide practitioners with the most comprehensive nutritional analysis available. We can see how well the body uses 35 vitamins, minerals, amino/fatty acids, antioxidants, and metabolites. These tests enable us to provide patients with personalized plans for addressing their micronutrient deficiencies.
They also help us to assess a variety of clinical conditions, general wellness, and vulnerability to diseases, including arthritis, cancer, cardiovascular risk, and diabetes. They can show immunological disorders and metabolic disorders as well.
Hormone Testing
Hormones play a bigger role in wellness than most people realize. Hormones are chemical messengers that are secreted directly into the blood. The blood carries them to organs and tissues throughout the body. Hormones influence all aspects of health and disease. They can affect mood, sleep, metabolism, the immune system, the heart, and even a person’s appearance.
For decades, many doctors have prescribed hormone replacement therapy as if everyone needed the same thing and in the same dosage. However, in order to achieve optimal health, one person’s hormonal needs can be quite different from another person’s needs. An imbalance of a single hormone can throw a person’s physical and mental health out of balance. This can lead to serious health problems.
Maintaining a proper hormonal balance is essential to well-being. Comprehensive male and female hormone testing can reveal the overall state of a patient’s hormonal balance. Testing enables practitioners to accurately identify any imbalances, and to develop a plan that will effectively correct them. Without going into tedious detail, here are some of the hormones that need to be properly balanced in order to achieve wellness.
Steroid Hormones: Many people think of estrogen as being a female hormone, and testosterone as being a male hormone. Some people are surprised when they find out that men and women produce both testosterone and estrogen. Testosterone, estrogen, and progesterone levels impact mood, metabolism, and cancer risk.
Peptide Hormones: These are known as regulatory hormones because they control the production and release of other hormones. These include follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and lutenizing hormone (LH). Peptide hormones also regulate reproductive functions in both men and women.
Thyroid Hormones: The thyroid gland produces and releases thyroxine and triiodothyronine. These regulate basic functions including metabolism, emotions, and thinking. Thyroid hormones affect every cell and every organ in the body. Too much thyroid hormone speeds things up. Too little slows things down. Here’s a more specific list of what the thyroid hormones do:

  • Control the rate at which your body burns calories. Naturally, this affects weight gain or loss.
  • Can slow down or speed up heartbeat.
  • Can raise or lower body temperature.
  • Change how fast food moves through the digestive tract.

In addition to the hormones I’ve already mentioned, there are several other hormones which are crucial to well-being. There are even hormones that are essential for the production of other hormones. In that sense, every human being has his or her own small biochemistry lab running on the inside. Think about that for a minute! If you have any trouble thinking about it, you might want to get your thyroid hormones checked out.
The great thing about all of this is that micronutrient imbalances and hormonal imbalances can be corrected. Accurate testing is required to get a clear picture of what’s going on. Once a qualified practitioner has the results, he or she can build the plan which will put the patient on the path to a truly happy and healthy state of being.

The SHIFT Paradigm for Holistic Health and Wellness.

By Dr. Jon Thomas, DC, PSc.D,
Board Certified Chiropractic Physician.

http://vibrantlifehealthcenter.com/
My wife, Tracy, and I have been involved with Chiropractic and Alternative Healthcare for over fifteen years. At the Vibrant Life Health Center, we seek to inspire, empower, and heal patients, friends, families, and anyone in the community who is seeking to improve their health and wellness.
Health and wellness is much more than the absence of disease or pain. Some prescriptions can reduce pain, but they do so without addressing the underlying issue. An awareness of how well your nervous system is functioning, what you’re putting into your body, and what goes onto your skin are all important elements of health and wellness.
Each of us make choices that have an impact on our health and wellness. Reading food labels, making better choices about what we put into our bodies, or taking a brisk walk can lead to improved health. Eating junk food and being a couch potato can take us in the opposite direction.
At Vibrant Life Health Center, we partner with our patients to help them develop plans for a balanced and healthy life. One of the tools we use is called the SHIFT Paradigm. SHIFT is an acronym which stands for:
  • Skeletal Structure
  • Headspace
  • Intake of Nutrients
  • Functional Fitness
  • Toxic Burden.

Skeletal Structure
Our skeletal structure is incredibly intricate. It keeps our central nervous system in balance.  The brain is the command center. The spinal column protects the spinal cord, which is the body’s communication system. It controls all the messages that flow through the spinal cord and the nerves to the rest of the body.
Our spinal column needs to be in alignment for our bodies to work well. If our spinal column is out of alignment, the result is a communication blockage. This can slow and/or prevent healing. Chiropractic is very effective for bringing the spine back into alignment when needed. Chiropractic is also a great way to keep the spine from going out of alignment.
Headspace
At Vibrant Life Health Center, we know that the way we think affects our health! People with a negative and pessimistic outlook suffer from higher levels of tension and anxiety. People who are optimistic have lower tension levels and generally are able to handle the challenges that come their way in life.
The things that we tell ourselves can either work for us or against us. Fueling the mind statements like “I’m no good,” and “No one loves me,” and “I’ll always have to take this medication,” can be self-fulfilling. On the other hand, when you speak positive thoughts into your mind, you find that you can maneuver your way through the roadblocks in life and continue moving toward your destination. A simple thought like “I can do this” is very empowering.
Another key element for healthy headspace is gratitude. In November, I wrote a blog post titled Gratitude Is Good for Mental, Emotional, and Physical Health. I’m happy to report that gratitude can work for people year round, not just during the holiday season. The blog post had some of the research showing the positive impact maintaining an attitude of gratitude can have on a person’s life. It also had some interesting quotes. Here are two that sum things up nicely.
“Gratitude is an immensely powerful force that we can use to expand our happiness, create loving relationships, and even improve our health. If you want more happiness, joy, and energy, gratitude is clearly a crucial quality to cultivate. It is a fullness of heart that moves us from limitation and fear to expansion and love. When we’re appreciating something, our ego moves out of the way and we connect with our soul.” Deepak Chopra
“Reflect on your present blessings, on which every man has many, not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have some.” Charles Dickens
Intake of Nutrients
The cells in our body are fueled by the food that we consume. If we constantly consume poor quality foods, the body will react negatively. There may be a feeling of sluggishness or there may be serious physical problems. When we take in whole, natural foods that are rich in vitamins, the body reacts positively.  We’re likely to feel a higher energy level. We may even find that we don’t need as many medications as we have been taking.
Most packaged foods have been highly processed and have numerous ingredients, including preservatives. Foods that are not highly processed have fewer ingredients and are more beneficial for overall health. Switching from highly processed foods to foods with less processing isn’t about diet. It’s about shifting eating habits and the way you think about food. The byproducts of this shift are improved health and wellness. This is frequently accompanied by weight loss.
Functional Fitness
Exercise is essential for health and wellness. Exercise increases muscle mass and decreases excess fat. As most people now realize, excess fat is the cause of many health problems. At Vibrant Life, we help patients shift into an effective workout plan. When I say “effective” I mean exercise that will help you burn fat and get into optimal shape relatively quickly. I believe in getting the best bang for exercise bucks.
“Functional fitness exercises train your muscles to work together and prepare them for daily tasks by simulating common movements you might do at home, at work or in sports. While using various muscles in the upper and lower body at the same time, functional fitness exercises also emphasize core stability.” Mayo Clinic
Toxic Burden
When the body is functioning properly it removes harmful toxins. However, if we are not careful about limiting toxic substances (medicines, processed foods, pesticide-sprayed foods, cleaners, air pollution, etc.), we may have more toxins than the body can dispose of. At Vibrant Life Health Center, we help patients learn how to detox their bodies with chiropractic care, natural foods, and exercise.  If needed, we can also recommend and provide high quality natural supplements to give your body a boost.

In this article, I have discussed the SHIFT Paradigm. SHIFT is an acronym that stands for Skeletal Structure, Headspace, Intake of Nutrients, Functional Fitness, and Toxic Burden. Improvements in these five areas produce significant improvements in terms of health and wellness.

Spring into Slimmer – NutriMost really works!

By Dr. Jon Thomas, DC, PSc.D, Board Certified Chiropractic Physician.

What makes NutriMost so effective for people who want to lose weight?

A lot of people are looking for the answer to their weight problems. It’s a battle that many people fight year after year. Many have tried yo-yo diets that don’t work in the long run. People get the weight back and then some.

It’s exciting to work with people as they lose weight with a plan that produces solid and lasting results. As the pounds come off, people begin to enjoy a healthy new lifestyle. When they finish the program they have the tools to keep going forward in their lives.

NutriMost is not just about fat loss. It’s really about bringing the body into balance. You can exercise, eat right, and reduce your caloric intake, and that combination can produce positive results. However, when you look at the big picture for long-lasting results, there are several other things that have to be addressed. Those include nutritional detoxification, hydration, pH balance, and hormone imbalances.

NutriMost gets the metabolism operating at a higher level. As people go through the program their metabolic age decreases. They get back to running on all eight cylinders, so to speak. When that happens, people find that they are able to do things they haven’t been able to do for a while. One thing many people notice is that they get a better night’s sleep. With the body working the way it should, it is in a better condition to heal from any existing conditions that a patient may have.

NutriMost transforms the way the body functions

NutriMost resets the metabolism, putting patients in control of fat storage and fat burn. By the time patients complete the process, their bodies are working to help them to achieve their weight loss goals rather than to defeat them. It’s not a trick to get the body working one way for a short period of time and then letting the body go back to the way it was. When you take weight off without actually changing the way the body works, the weight usually comes right back.

One of the most important components of NutriMost is that the program educates patients about what they’re putting into their bodies. There’s a strong educational component to the program. As patients lose weight, they are also becoming smarter about how their bodies work. They learn what their bodies need and what they should avoid. That’s another one of the keys to lasting success at weight loss, and it’s one of the big reasons people are having so much success with NutriMost.

“Understanding the caloric intake, and documenting it every night, I became more aware of how I was eating and what I was eating. When you start seeing the weight come off, it’s really exciting.”
Charlene Shirk, First Coast Living

NutriMost fits into a busy lifestyle.

I know that NutriMost can fit into a busy lifestyle because I went through the program myself. At the time, I was very busy building my chiropractic practice and spending time with my wife and children. When you go through this process, you start to understand the routines and what you have to do to succeed. Understanding the strategy helps you to manage your schedule so that it will work.

Losing weight shouldn’t take forever.

One of the reasons losing weight is hard for many people is that it seems to take forever. Many weight loss programs can result in the loss of a pound or two per week. That’s four to eight pounds per month! At that rate, it could take five months to lose twenty pounds. Many people want to lose a lot more than twenty pounds. Suppose someone wanted to take off fifty-two pounds. That could take a year! People drop out of slow weight loss plans because, after a while, continuing seems pointless.

With NutriMost, the weight comes off fast. There’s a reward every day when NutriMost patients get on the scale to weigh in. Most patients take weight off at the rate of at least a half a pound per day. That’s three to four pounds per week, twelve to sixteen pounds per month, twenty pounds in forty days. Of course, that’s not the way it works for every patient. Some people on NutriMost lose a lot more than that! Seeing results and having the feeling that the program is working is one of the strongest motivators for people to keep going.

Simplicity

“I would look at the recipes, make a shopping list, and get what I needed at the store. Then I set aside some time on the weekend to prepare everything in plastic bags. My husband looked in the refrigerator and said there was nothing in there for him to eat. I told him there was plenty to eat, just nothing in cardboard or Styrofoam that he liked to eat. He ended up losing six pounds while I was on NutriMost.”
Charlene Shirk

NutriMost is not complicated. There are some choices to make but there’s no guesswork. Just follow the directions and it works. There are a few things that have to be avoided to succeed with NutriMost. How do people handle that if they want to go to a restaurant for dinner? You can tell the server, “I need something without A, B, and C. Could you ask the chef what is the best thing he or she can make with those limitations?” They will tell you. Problem solved. You might end up eating something you haven’t tried before, and you might really like it.

---

In this article, I have discussed the NutriMost program for fat loss. NutriMost transforms the way a person’s body works. One of the reasons NutriMost works is because it doesn’t take forever to lose the weight. Twenty pounds in forty days is not unusual.
