NutriMost, the Gift that Keeps on Giving!

It’s fun during the holidays to give gifts to loved ones. It’s also fun to be nice to yourself, especially if you do something that will continue to pay off in some way for a long time. For many people, NutriMost is a gift that keeps on giving. Initially, NutriMost helps people to lose a substantial amount of weight in a short period of time.
After going through the NutriMost program, people continue to benefit by keeping the weight off. However, there are lots of other benefits that aren’t reflected on the scale. Many people are able to discontinue their use of prescription medications for conditions like high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and diabetes.  In addition to being a health benefit, it is an economic benefit since it saves money.

Manny Lost 50 Pounds on NutriMost! He also got his health back!

By Dr. Jon Thomas, DC, PSc.D, Board Certified Chiropractic Physician.

Manny weighed 280 pounds when he started on NutriMost. His cholesterol and blood pressure were high. He lost 44 lbs in 40 days and continued to lose weight after that. While losing fifty pounds overall, Manny also saw big improvements on cholesterol and blood pressure. He also stopped snoring. Here’s what he had to say about NutriMost.

“I wanted to get back on track. However, I was nervous about starting the program. I kept it to myself and didn’t even tell my family about it. Once I knew that it was actually working, I really took off with it. I’ve learned what works for me and what does not. For example, I thought walnuts were a healthy snack, but I found out that they don’t work well for me. I also found out that I can eat pizza, and that does work well for me. So, I can’t complain. Learning about what works and what doesn’t has been awesome.
“Communications with Dr. Thomas were very important. In the first two weeks, I was having lots of doubts about the program and lots of cravings. Dr. Thomas was with me every step of the way. I’ve been through lots of other programs. I’ve been in programs that involved group meetings, online check-ins, pills, and none of those programs worked for me. Dr. Thomas was able to show me exactly what would work for me. He was also very encouraging. I now have energy, day and night. On my fifth day in the program, I stopped snoring. My lady loved that.”

There’s more to NutriMost than just losing weight.
For many people, losing weight is a health priority. It’s a well-known fact that getting to a healthy weight and maintaining it does much more than simply improve a person’s appearance. Manny was having serious problems with his cholesterol and blood pressure. As he lost the weight, those two items changed. Many people experience other health benefits when they lose weight the right way with NutriMost.
Hector lost 29 pounds in 40 days and continued to lose 4 more lbs by the end of the program. He also has had significant improvements in his liver
health, an area where he has been having issues since he was diagnosed with hepatitis and treated unsuccessfully for it at twenty years old. Over the next several decades of his life, he received many treatments for hepatitis. Some of them were experimental. Tests showed that the hepatitis was gone after the treatments he received. However, the hepatitis always returned.
At the age of 45, he had a biopsy and he was diagnosed with stage two hepatic fibrosis, fibrosis of the liver. The National Institutes for Health define hepatic fibrosis as follows: “Liver fibrosis is the excessive accumulation of extracellular matrix proteins including collagen that occurs in most types of chronic liver diseases. Advanced liver fibrosis results in cirrhosis, liver failure, and portal hypertension and often requires liver transplantation.”
It’s a very serious condition and one that doctors say is irreversible. After losing weight on NutriMost, Hector wanted to look into new treatments for his liver. He got a state-of-the-art MRI, which showed “zero fibrosis” and negligible fat in his liver. Weight loss allows the liver to repair itself. He still has hepatitis, but very few symptoms and no liver damage per say. When the liver is working properly, it reduces the presence of toxins in the body. Hector found out that losing weight the right way can produce very positive health results.
Additional Benefits of Losing Weight
Heart Attacks: Plaque buildup can result in narrowed arteries. During a heart attack, the coronary artery becomes completely blocked. This cuts off the oxygen that your heart needs to continue to function. Losing weight can significantly reduce the risk of heart attack. The more you lose, the more you reduce your risk.
Cancer: Obesity increases the risk of getting cancer. The risk of getting certain types of cancers is significantly reduced when a person loses weight. This is particularly true for breast and uterine cancer.
Dementia: Many Americans have too much visceral fat. That’s the abdominal fat that surrounds internal organs. Visceral fat releases chemicals that cause inflammation. Inflammation can lead to memory loss, and it can ultimately increase the risk of dementia. Reducing visceral fat reduces the risk.
Sleep Apnea: When people become overweight, extra tissue thickens the windpipe wall and narrows the airway. This creates a dangerous condition in which a person stops taking in enough oxygen while sleeping. Losing weight can widen the windpipe and help people sleep through the night.
Arthritis and Joint Pain: Extra weight puts a tremendous strain on the joints. Losing weight reduces the pressure on joints. As people lose weight, the cushioning between bones builds back up and they become more comfortable moving around.
Diabetes: People who are overweight are at risk for developing diabetes. Excess weight reduces the cells’ sensitivity to insulin. Insulin is the hormone that regulates the movement of sugar into your cells. Losing weight reduces the risk of diabetes.
The health issues I’ve been writing about should be enough to motivate most people to lose their excess weight. However, there are several other factors that could be considered bonuses for losing weight.
For example, as a person’s overall health improves, the need for expensive prescription medications is reduced and sometimes eliminated completely. That’s a bonus, you can feel where it counts – right in the wallet.
Another important bonus is that people feel more energetic when they’re not lugging an extra 20 to 40 pounds around. When people lose weight and get health conditions under control, they feel better.
A closely related benefit of losing weight and becoming healthier is an improved sex drive. A person’s sex drive can be dramatically affected by prescription drugs, high blood pressure, diabetes, and other conditions related to excess weight. For most people, better health and more energy equate to an improved sex life.

What are trigger foods? The good, the bad, and the yummy. Be afraid. Be very afraid!

By Dr. Jon Thomas, DC, PSc.D, Board Certified Chiropractic Physician.

One of the things I talk about frequently with NutriMost patients is trigger foods. Within medical research trigger foods have been studied widely involving migraines, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, acid reflux, gout, and even obesity! One key is to understand what is meant by “trigger” food.

Weight watchers has a very helpful definition of trigger foods. “A trigger food is a specific food that sets off a course of overeating where control is lost. The most common trigger foods are calorie-dense, highly palatable foods that are often combinations of sugar and fat (e.g. ice cream, cookies) or fat and salt (e.g. nuts, potato chips, French fries).”

Trigger foods go even deeper then this! It has everything to do how foods relate to your metabolism! Understanding what foods YOUR body metabolizes well and what ones disrupt your bodies functions is key, especially important for anyone endeavoring to lose weight.

Recovering alcoholics sometimes say that one drink is too many and a hundred drinks are not enough. Trigger foods can be like that. One Oreo cookie leads to another, and another, and another, until finally the package is empty. And then it’s time for a run to the grocery store.

Is there any hope for a hardcore Oreo addict? There is once they understand how the food impacts them and what alternatives are available that don’t affect them in the same way. Many people eat trigger foods and don’t realize its impacts as it affects how the metabolism functions and shifts the body into fat storage. This imbalance leads to excess fat storage resulting in being overweight and obese.

Courtesy of Public Domain Pictures
The food could be chili cheese French fries, pizza, chocolate chip ice cream, or grandma’s biscuits and gravy, but the result could be apparent or not. In fact, some of these foods may have no impact at all and be safe “indulgences.”

“It's basically encoded in our DNA to binge on salty, fatty, and sugary foods or on various combinations of the three. Back in the day, foods with high levels of these nutrients (and ergo, lots of calories) were rarely found in nature, so when our hunter-gatherer ancestors discovered them, they ate them to completion to ensure they wouldn't, you know, die of starvation later.” The Foods You're Most Likely To Binge On, Stephanie Eckelkamp, Prevention Magazine

How can people deal with trigger foods?

Courtesy of Public Domain Pictures
Most human beings are vulnerable to one or more trigger foods. Many of us know exactly what those foods are or we can figure it out. For example, if you grew up eating every morsel of chocolate you could find on Christmas morning and you’ve been doing that ever since, chocolate might be a trigger food for you.

Change starts with awareness. Make a list of the foods that you know you have difficulty with every time. Whether its that you can’t stop at just one, or you observe bloating and weight gain after eating them. Those foods could include salmon, hummus, pizza, doughnuts, tortilla chips, peanuts, Girl Scout cookies of any variety, fried chicken, Chinese food, pasta, cheese, chocolate cake, vanilla cake, pineapple upside down cake – the list of possible trigger foods could go on and on.

Make note of variations in form that change the way you react to a food. For example, someone might lose control when eating salted peanuts, but might not have a problem at all with unsalted peanuts. Or, perhaps muffins with chocolate chips are a problem while plain muffins are not.

After you have begun to identify your trigger foods, you can start taking steps to avoid them. First, stop buying foods that cause problems for you. That sounds incredibly simple, but there are people who know which foods are a problem and continue to keep those foods in the house. Even though they have a problem every time they eat it, they keep it around. Don’t do that if you don’t have to.

If someone else in your home likes your trigger foods and keeps them around, you might not be able to keep them all out of your house. If possible, have those stored either out of sight or somewhere behind healthier foods.

The NutriMost program educates people about trigger foods. It also helps people to identify their own trigger foods and to develop strategies for avoiding them. If you’d like to find out more about NutriMost.

Spring into Slimmer – NutriMost really works!

By Dr. Jon Thomas, DC, PSc.D, Board Certified Chiropractic Physician.

What makes NutriMost so effective for people who want to lose weight?

A lot of people are looking for the answer to their weight problems. It’s a battle that many people fight year after year. Many have tried yo-yo diets that don’t work in the long run. People get the weight back and then some.

It’s exciting to work with people as they lose weight with a plan that produces solid and lasting results. As the pounds come off, people begin to enjoy a healthy new lifestyle. When they finish the program they have the tools to keep going forward in their lives.

NutriMost is not just about fat loss. It’s really about bringing the body into balance. You can exercise, eat right, and reduce your caloric intake, and that combination can produce positive results. However, when you look at the big picture for long-lasting results, there are several other things that have to be addressed. Those include nutritional detoxification, hydration, pH balance, and hormone imbalances.

NutriMost gets the metabolism operating at a higher level. As people go through the program their metabolic age decreases. They get back to running on all eight cylinders, so to speak. When that happens, people find that they are able to do things they haven’t been able to do for a while. One thing many people notice is that they get a better night’s sleep. With the body working the way it should, it is in a better condition to heal from any existing conditions that a patient may have.

NutriMost transforms the way the body functions

NutriMost resets the metabolism, putting patients in control of fat storage and fat burn. By the time patients complete the process, their bodies are working to help them to achieve their weight loss goals rather than to defeat them. It’s not a trick to get the body working one way for a short period of time and then letting the body go back to the way it was. When you take weight off without actually changing the way the body works, the weight usually comes right back.

One of the most important components of NutriMost is that the program educates patients about what they’re putting into their bodies. There’s a strong educational component to the program. As patients lose weight, they are also becoming smarter about how their bodies work. They learn what their bodies need and what they should avoid. That’s another one of the keys to lasting success at weight loss, and it’s one of the big reasons people are having so much success with NutriMost.

“Understanding the caloric intake, and documenting it every night, I became more aware of how I was eating and what I was eating. When you start seeing the weight come off, it’s really exciting.”
Charlene Shirk, First Coast Living

NutriMost fits into a busy lifestyle.

I know that NutriMost can fit into a busy lifestyle because I went through the program myself. At the time, I was very busy building my chiropractic practice and spending time with my wife and children. When you go through this process, you start to understand the routines and what you have to do to succeed. Understanding the strategy helps you to manage your schedule so that it will work.

Losing weight shouldn’t take forever.

One of the reasons losing weight is hard for many people is that it seems to take forever. Many weight loss programs can result in the loss of a pound or two per week. That’s four to eight pounds per month! At that rate, it could take five months to lose twenty pounds. Many people want to lose a lot more than twenty pounds. Suppose someone wanted to take off fifty-two pounds. That could take a year! People drop out of slow weight loss plans because, after a while, continuing seems pointless.

With NutriMost, the weight comes off fast. There’s a reward every day when NutriMost patients get on the scale to weigh in. Most patients take weight off at the rate of at least a half a pound per day. That’s three to four pounds per week, twelve to sixteen pounds per month, twenty pounds in forty days. Of course, that’s not the way it works for every patient. Some people on NutriMost lose a lot more than that! Seeing results and having the feeling that the program is working is one of the strongest motivators for people to keep going.

Simplicity

“I would look at the recipes, make a shopping list, and get what I needed at the store. Then I set aside some time on the weekend to prepare everything in plastic bags. My husband looked in the refrigerator and said there was nothing in there for him to eat. I told him there was plenty to eat, just nothing in cardboard or Styrofoam that he liked to eat. He ended up losing six pounds while I was on NutriMost.”
Charlene Shirk

NutriMost is not complicated. There are some choices to make but there’s no guesswork. Just follow the directions and it works. There are a few things that have to be avoided to succeed with NutriMost. How do people handle that if they want to go to a restaurant for dinner? You can tell the server, “I need something without A, B, and C. Could you ask the chef what is the best thing he or she can make with those limitations?” They will tell you. Problem solved. You might end up eating something you haven’t tried before, and you might really like it.

---

In this article, I have discussed the NutriMost program for fat loss. NutriMost transforms the way a person’s body works. One of the reasons NutriMost works is because it doesn’t take forever to lose the weight. Twenty pounds in forty days is not unusual.

Doctor Supervised Weight Loss

When weight loss programs go wrong, it’s time to call a doctor.

by Dr. Jon Thomas DC, PScD, Director of Vibrant Life Health Center

Dr. Jon Thomas
One of the biggest differences between NutriMost and other weight loss programs is that NutriMost is supervised by a board certified chiropractor. NutriMost requires practitioners to be board certified, licensed, professionals. Not counselors. Not therapists. Not health coaches. This is important, since weight loss and the wellness that can come from chiropractic care go well together.

Medical supervision in a weight loss program is extremely beneficial to patients because attaining and maintaining a healthy weight for the long term involves changing the way a body works. A person who has been educated and trained as a doctor understands the intricacies of the human body and the transformative changes a person experiences during weight loss. There are numerous examples of people who have tried diets or weight loss programs and ended up having serious health issues. The results can be tragic.

In the late 70s, Robert Linn published a book titled The Last Chance Diet. It was a bestseller that promoted a liquid diet that was touted to be miraculous. Millions of people bought Linn's book and tried his formula. The low calorie diet seemed to work wonders. But then news of sudden deaths began to surface. Unfortunately, for some people, the Last Chance Diet brought them to their last meals.

Dozens of other fad diets have come and gone. Some have been absolutely crazy and some have been downright dangerous. Here are a few examples.

Courtesy Wikimedia
The Twinkie Diet involved eating nothing but Twinkies. No need to worry about nutrients that aren’t found in Twinkies. It’s hard to believe, but people actually tried this.

The Tapeworm Diet was based on getting tapeworms into the digestive tract where they would go to work on behalf of the dieter. Unfortunately, some found out that an untreated tapeworm infestation can be lethal.

The Baby Food Diet worked by substituting baby food for adult meals. Some people did lose weight that way. However, they all eventually started eating like grownups again. When they did, the pounds inevitably returned.

The Cotton Ball Diet involved eating cotton balls before meals. The idea is that they fill your stomach so you’re not hungry and don’t eat very much. In fact, they may have caused some people to lose their appetites. The problem is that cotton balls are not good for the digestive tract.

The Cigarette Diet was undoubtedly one of the most harmful diet fads of all time. In the 1920s, cigarette manufacturers actually promoted the weight-loss benefits of smoking. Since smoking doesn’t involve taking calories in and since nicotine is a stimulant, lighting up instead of eating actually could result in burning off a few calories. However, we now know that it also leads to serious medical conditions like heart disease and lung cancer.

When entering into a program, it is important to understand doctor’s have been educated about how the body works and knows the difference between a fad diet and a medically sound and effective weight loss program. When it comes to matters of health, advice from family, friends, and other non-professionals is usually worth what you pay for it.

Losing weight involves serious changes for the body. For people who are investigating weight loss programs, one of the first things to look into is whether or not the people running the program actually know anything about how the body works. With NutriMost, that’s never an issue. NutriMost is always supervised by a doctor.

My interest in health started at an early age. My life included BMX racing, professional snow skiing, water skiing, baseball, weight lifting, and martial arts. While I was attending Life University in Marietta, GA, I spent thousands of hours studying subjects such as Biochemistry, Microbiology, Pathology, Embryology, Human Anatomy, Physiology, X-ray, Diagnosis, Chiropractic Adjusting Techniques, Orthopedic Testing, Physiotherapy, and Patient Care. I have also received advanced training in Functional Neurology, 21st Century Intracellular Detoxification, Clinical Lab Testing, Bio-nutrition, Nervous System Balancing, and Spinal Correction.

I’m a Board Certified Chiropractic Physician. I’ve learned the practice of medicine from some of the top health experts in the world. I specialize in Corrective Structural Care, Neck and Back Pain, Extremity Function, Acute Pain Care, Sports Performance Enhancement, Sports Injury, Anatomic Kinetics and Movement Patterns, Fat Loss, Hormonal and Neurotransmitter Disruption Balancing.

I’ve had many patients who sincerely wanted to lose weight and tried every program they could find. However, most never found anything that worked until they found NutriMost. Many have experienced incredible results with NutriMost. Losing twenty pounds, or more, in forty days is not unusual at all. Losing weight doesn’t have to take forever, but it has to be done properly. Otherwise, as so many fad dieters have discovered, the weight is coming back.

I’m not just a practitioner. I’ve been on NutriMost and I lost over 26 pounds in just over 40 days. My body fat level dropped from 30% to just over 10%. I’ve seen similar results in my wife, my parents, and her parents. Since bringing NutriMost to Jacksonville, I’ve been on a mission to positively impact the health of everyone I meet. For a few examples, check out the NutriMost Jacksonville testimonial page.

In this article, I have discussed the importance of medical supervision for any weight loss program. Losing weight is a serious transformation for anyone and it’s important to get proper medical advice when you’re in the process of losing substantial amounts of weight.  NutriMost practitioners, like me, are board certified medical professionals.
