Mention essential oils to most people, and they’ll
immediately assume that it’s associated with other new age therapies, like
using magnets and healing crystals. What
you may not realize is that essential oils are not new. In fact, they have been used for thousands of
years among various cultures who realized their medicinal properties. Just like modern medicines, essential oils
exhibit a number of proven therapeutic properties, including antimicrobial,
anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits.
Since the time of the pyramid builders some 5,000 years ago,
when the Egyptians used to create essential oils by soaking a variety of plants
in oil before filtering the liquid through linen bags, these healing oils have
been utilized as medicines, beauty aids, and cleaning products. While the technology used to manufacture,
essential oils has evolved over the past five millennia, their benefits remain
the same.
A lot of people come to our office and ask us about health and wellness plans. They’ve exhausted all their options trying to figure out what kind of supplements they should be taking. They’ve had countless blood tests analyzed and then tried to figure out what the results were telling them. They attempted to determine what they need to do to get all the systems in their body working at their best. That’s why we developed the Life N Balance Membership Program.

Halloween has come and gone. Now, The
Agricultural Fair is in town. From candy corn to cotton candy to deep fried
Twinkies, some of the things that people eat at this time of year are
absolutely spooky! I urge people to think about what they’re consuming and to
avoid things that will have negative health consequences.
As people age, many face health
challenges that they never had to think about when they were younger. The good
news is that there are things a person can do to avoid many of the health
problems associated with aging. The even better news is that help is available.
With that in mind, here are some of the scariest health problems people face as
they grow older.
General decline in health leading to
inability to take care of oneself
Courtesy of Vibrant Life
Health Center
Many people take their health for
granted until something goes wrong. As people age, there can be a tendency for
more and more to go wrong. The bad habits, unhealthy diets, and lack of
exercise begin to take their toll in the form of serious health problems.
Eventually, many who have taken care of themselves and others for decades get
to the point where they can no longer live independent lives.
Since most people enjoy having the
ability to take care of themselves, losing that ability is very scary. The good
news is that if you establish a plan with long term and short term goals you
can maintain a healthy weight, enjoy the ability to exercise, and keep your
body in top shape! You can maintain an optimal level of health right through to
the end, or very close to it.
Loss of memory and mental acuity,
Alzheimer’s Disease
As people age, many do lose their mental
sharpness and their ability to remember things. Many people have family members
or friends who appear to be losing their memory a little more each day. When
someone you’ve loved for your whole life forgets who you are, it’s truly
frightening. The prospect of that happening to oneself is truly terrifying.
Consuming the right nutrients and
staying physically active are two of the keys to maintaining mental fitness. Sitting
on the couch, eating potato chips, and watching whatever shows up on the screen
will not keep a person mentally healthy.
For optimal mental health, it’s very
important to stay in the game by continuing to learn new things. Nourishing the
mind is just as important as eating the right foods. The more people do that,
the less likely they are to see a decline in their mental capabilities.
Being overweight and being unable to
lose excess weight
Bodies in motion tend to stay in motion
and remain healthy. If you don’t believe it, check out a few videos of Jack LaLanne,
the godfather of fitness. Bodies at rest tend to stay at rest and pack on the
pounds. If you don’t believe that, take a look at some of your neighbors, family
members, or friends. For most people, body metabolism changes as they age. When
people reach their 30s, 40s, and 50s, they usually don’t burn calories as fast
as they did in their 20s. This is why it becomes more difficult for most people
to lose weight as they age.
When people begin the NutriMost Weight
Loss program at Vibrant Life Health Center, we measure their weight and we
measure their bodies in key areas. One other thing we measure is metabolic age.
We do this at the beginning of the program and then again at the end.
Invariably, after successfully completing forty days in the program, a person’s
metabolic age has been substantially reduced, usually by a decade or more.
This is very important because losing
weight is only part of the equation. To achieve permanent weight loss, a person
needs to learn the in’s and out’s of their personal metabolism. Patients who go
through our Programs weather its Life in Balance, NutriMost, or even Functional
Medicine we show people this key component to long term health and vitality!
Taking a decade or more off one’s metabolic age is one of the keys to keeping
the weight off. Taking the weight off and keeping it off is also one of the
best things a person can do to avoid many conditions associated with age, including
diabetes, arthritis, and many other diseases.
Heart attack, heart disease, stroke
Courtesy of NutriMost
A healthy cardiovascular system is an
essential component of good health. When heart disease sets in, the body can’t
function properly. When the blood is carrying things that can build up in the
form of plaque in blood vessels, a person can suffer a stroke which can cause
brain damage and disrupt the nervous system in such a way that parts of the
body cease to function properly.A heart
attack caused by hardening of the arteries can maim or kill.
The foods we consume have an enormous
impact on cardiovascular health. They can help to keep things flowing properly
or they can create blockages. It’s so important to keep this in mind as we
choose what to eat and what not to eat. Also, exercise is extremely important
for heart health. A good fitness program can certainly contribute to keeping a
heart strong and extending a person’s life expectancy.
Loss of balance resulting in falls and
broken limbs
Wikimedia Commons
The thought of falling and not being
able to get up is one of the scariest things of all. Remember the commercial? A
good sense of balance that keeps one from falling is certainly one of the
things people take for granted until they take a tumble. As people age, they do
sometimes lose the sense of balance they had when they were younger. To make
matters worse, bones can break more easily as we get older, and when they do it
takes longer for them to heal.
Maintaining a healthy weight and staying
fit can definitely help a person to keep his or her sense of balance throughout
life. Another thing that is very important for maintaining a sense of balance
is musculoskeletal health. The bones and muscles not only affect the way we
move it also plays a key role in brain/body communication. While many people
think of chiropractic care primarily as the answer to injuries, routine
adjustments can provide a tremendous health benefit.
Life In Balance
At Vibrant Life Health Center, we now
offer a program that brings all the key components for wellness together under
one roof. Our Life In Balance Program addresses weight and nutrition, fitness
and exercise, musculoskeletal health, and more. Our goal is to help patients

Did you
know that May 27th was National Heat Awareness Day? Heat is one of the
leading weather-related killers in the United States. The National Weather
Service asks people to think about the heat on National Heat Awareness Day,
which is observed each year on the last Friday in May. That coincides
with Memorial Day weekend, a weekend when many Americans start spending more
time out in the sun.
One of
the biggest problems people have in hot weather is staying properly hydrated.
Maintaining the proper fluid level in our bodies is just as important as
keeping the radiator in your car topped off. Actually, since dehydration can
lead to serious illness or death, it’s more important.
In a
Fitness Magazine article titled, The Ultimate Energy Drink: How to Stay Hydrated,
Stephanie Dolgoff writes, "Water protects and hydrates our organs,
transports nutrients to our cells and helps us stay energized and mentally
sharp. It also balances the level of electrolytes and minerals such as sodium
and potassium in our bodies to keep our muscles functioning properly.”
Dehydration
occurs when the loss of body fluids is greater than the amount of water being
taken in. More water is moving out of our cells and bodies than what we consume.
Florida gets hotter than many other parts of the country. That makes it
especially important to take precautions. When the heat is on, be sure to stay
hydrated, avoid alcohol and caffeine, and avoid overexertion. Some days
it’s much better to stay in a cool space than it is to be outside in the heat.
Courtesy National Weather Service
Prevention
When it
comes to dehydration, a fluid ounce of prevention is worth a gallon of cure. If
you’re not careful, dehydration can sneak up on you very quickly, especially in
places with hot and humid summer climates like Northeast Florida. Pay attention
to the environment and try to anticipate situations where you may need to
increase your fluid intake.
For
example, if you’re going out on a kayak or canoe, take extra water in case your
excursion takes a little longer than anticipated. If you’re working in the yard
on a hot day, take breaks at regular intervals and drink water during your
breaks. Don’t wait till you begin to get thirsty. If you do, you’ll already be
well on your way to becoming dehydrated. Dehydration starts when body fluids go
down by just one percent. However, people don’t even get thirsty till their
fluids go down two percent. Here are some additional tips.
Pay close attention to weather reports and avoid
exercising and working outside on very hot days or during the hottest parts of
the day.
Plan strenuous outdoor activities for early in
the day or late in the day when the temperature is cooler.
Avoid alcohol. Alcohol increases water loss and
even impairs your ability to sense the earliest signs of dehydration.
If you have to be outdoors when it is very hot, wear light-colored and
loose-fitting clothing. And keep a bottle of water nearby.

Symptoms
of Dehydration
The
symptoms of dehydration range from minor to severe. They include:
Increased thirst. Don’t ignore thirst. Get some
water or a sports drink.
Dry mouth, which is also referred to as cotton
mouth.
The color of urine can be a reliable indicator of dehydration.
According to DripDrop, clear or light yellow urine is normal.
When urine is darker orange, it’s a sign that the body is running low on water.
How much water should a person drink every day?
In the not-so-distant past, the so-called rule of
thumb for recommended water consumption was one size fits all: eight 8-ounce
glasses of water per day. That has changed. Obviously, a large person needs
more water than a smaller person. Also, a person who is active outside in a hot
climate for much of the day will need more water than a person who sits in an
air-conditioned office all day.
Courtesy Wikimedia Commons
According to WEBMD, people should drink between half an ounce
and an ounce of water per day for each pound they weigh. For example, a person
who weighs 150 pounds should consume between 75 to 150 ounces of water a day
depending on there activity level. Someone living in a hot climate would want
to take in about 150 ounces per day. Someone in a cooler climate might need
less than 100 ounces per day.
A person who calculates that he or she is
drinking a lot less than the recommended amount per day should develop a plan
for ramping up the quantity. It’s not a good idea to try to double the amount
of water being consumed overnight. The increase in intake should be made more
gradually so that the body can adjust accordingly.
Drinking fluids isn’t the only way to stay
hydrated.
In an article for Daily Burn, Emily Faherty writes about foods that
can help people in their efforts to stay hydrated. It’s no coincidence that
watermelon has water in its name. Watermelon is 92 percent water and it does a
nice job of quenching thirst. Watermelon also contains salt, calcium, and
magnesium making it ideal for helping with hydration.
Celery stalks are about 95 percent water. Celery
also has fiber and minerals, including potassium and vitamin K. Cucumbers,
which are 96 percent water, can also help you to keep your cool in the heat.
Strawberries are 92 percent water and they are loaded with fiber and vitamin C.
Lettuce and spinach also have high percentages of water.
Working these foods into your diet will help you
to maintain the proper fluid levels.
Self-treatment for mild dehydration
Mild dehydration can normally be corrected by
consuming fluids. That doesn’t mean chugging down lots of water. Here are a few
suggestions on how to take in fluids slowly to bring your levels up to where
they should be:
Sip small amounts of water.
Drink carbohydrate/electrolyte-containing drinks.
Sports drinks like Gatorade are good for this.
Add Lemon to your water to aid with cellular absorption, this will
also help with your body’s alkalinity.
It’s very important to stay properly hydrated in
hot weather. Maintaining an awareness of the environment around you and
planning for situations where your body may need more water than normal is one
of the keys to avoiding dehydration. Staying in tune with what’s going on in
your own body is the other key. Taking appropriate steps to avoid dehydration
and taking action quickly when symptoms present themselves will help you to
maintain the balance your body needs and enjoy the summer in spite of the
searing heat.

Testimonials of Transformation
The media bombards all of us with an idealized image of
health and fitness. Weight loss programs are everywhere. The problem is that
these programs try to squeeze everyone into the same box and mold them into the
one-size-fits-all image of health. Every human being is unique, and so are our
expressions of life and health.
At the Vibrant Life Health Center, our desire and commitment
is to empower each of our patients with life-saving knowledge. We strive daily
to help all of our patients realize a healthier and happier lifestyle with less
sickness, less disease, and fewer preventable deaths. A world where children
are healthier, families are happier, and marriages and relationships are
enriched.
Most weight loss programs will tell people that they have to
count calories to lose weight. This is their core principle. If you lower
caloric intake and increase your activity level, you will lose weight. The most
common way to do this is to either plan a diet with certain foods to
restrictdaily calorie intake or provide
pre-packaged food from a box. The problem with this approach is that people gain
their lost weight right back.
Here’s why. As you lower your caloric intake, your
metabolism slows down because it has less work to do. With most programs, after
the weight is lost, people go back to eating a normal, sustainable amount of
food each day. However, since their metabolism has slowed, it can’t process all
the food. Excess calories get stored right back in the body as fat.
At Vibrant Life, we use NutriMost Resonant Frequency
Technology (NRFT) to develop a customized plan for each patient. With NRFT, we
find the patient’s specific weaknesses, balance the imbalances, and strengthen
the body to reach optimal health. No other weight loss program has the
technology to do this.
NRFT enables the body to communicate its needs without any
guessing. Using galvanic skin response, the technology sends specific messages
to the body and monitors the physiochemical response. NRFT allows the more than
400 million communications that occur per second in the human body to be
assessed accurately. Comparisons to the baseline allow for analysis. We use the
data to identify biological preferences, biomarkers that are out of range, and
areas in which the body may be weak or imbalanced.
NRFT takes a hormonal fingerprint to determine the exact
blueprint a person needs to follow to bring the body into an optimal state of
fat burning and health. It gives us the capability to measure and assist the
body’s innate healing abilities in ways that have never previously been
possible. With NRFT, patients lose weight faster, more easily, and more safely
than ever before.
Here are a few examples of the success people have had at
losing weight with NutriMost.
Debbie’s Story
“The program was much easier than I thought it would be.
There were lots of recipes in the book. I was able to get everything I needed
from the grocery store. I thought sticking with the program was going to be
difficult. However, I was never hungry. About a week into the program I felt so
much energy! I used to lay down every day for about an hour. I don’t need to do
that anymore. That gives me an extra hour every day to do whatever I need to
do. My results were actually better than the goals I set at the beginning. I
lost twenty pounds and I lost them in the places where I needed to lose them.
I’m fitting into size eights that I could not fit into before.”
Ed’s Story
“I thought the hard part was going to be the hunger I
anticipated on the low calorie diet. I found that it wasn’t hard. I wasn’t
hungry and I was content with what I was eating.I felt better throughout the process than I
have in the last fifteen years. I had more energy. I slept better. I gradually
stopped snoring. My wife liked that! One amazing part of the process is that you
expect to feel bad, but that was not the case. I felt better during the forty
day burn than I’ve felt in the fifteen years prior to that. I lost 75 pounds.
I’m off of blood pressure medicationand
cholesterol medication.”
Kathy’s Story
“I love the fact that the program was very structured and it
told me exactly what to do. I thought that the restriction on calories was
going to be difficult and I thought I was going to be hungry. That didn’t
happen. This was the easiest program I have ever been on. There was never a
thought of cheating. I understood from the science of the program that cheating
would really derail my progress. I wasn’t hungry and I didn’t deviate from the
program at all. I feel fantastic. I just turned fifty. Since completing this
program, I feel like I’m thirty again.I
feel better mentally and physically. I lost twenty-three pounds.I love the way some of my clothes don’t fit
because they’re too big for me now. I feel healthy again.” Kathy's video
These stories are not exceptions. These are typical examples of the phenomenal
results real people are experiencing
with NutriMost. The program is easy to follow and easy to stick with. People
who commit to it and follow through are seeing extraordinary results. No one
has to go on being overweight!
Counting calories is not the key to losing weight. The most
effective way to lose fat is balancing hormones and neurotransmitters,
detoxifying the body, and balancing vitamins and minerals in a way that turns
you into an incredible fat burning zone. NRFT will determine exactly what
your body is missing and will allow you to safely lose twenty to forty pounds
or more in only 40 days.
In this article, I have explained how the NutriMost Resonant
Feedback Technology helps the team at Vibrant Life to develop customized weight
loss programs for patients. This article includes testimonials from three
