Another NutriMost Success Story! Abby went from a size 12 to a size 6.
Abby came to us in January ready to make some changes in her life! She specifically wanted to change the direction her health was going in. Six months after beginning the NutriMost plan, Abby is thriving. She feels great, she looks great, and she has truly transformed her life! Check out her story below and on the First Coast Living video.

"Nutrimost was a gift that I gave to myself. After eighteen years of raising my two children and seventeen years of taking care of my parents in my home, it was time for me to do something special for me. I started in January this year. At the end of forty days, I had taken off 22 pounds. Then I did the NutriMost reset and took off another 12 pounds. My old clothes are in the garage and I'll be selling them at a garage sale.
"I'm an executive business coach, and I believe that if you want to be great at anything, you need the help of a coach. If you want to achieve tremendous results, you need someone to hold you accountable. In this case, Dr. Thomas was my health and maintenance coach. I was texting my weight to Dr. Thomas every day, and I didn't want to give him a bad number. That's one of the reasons I really stuck with the plan.
"There were challenging days, like one day when I was in South America and couldn't even read the menu at a restaurant. We texted back and forth and Dr. Thomas gave me a helpful suggestion on what to select. Before getting on NutriMost, I didn't prepare meals at home very often. I frequently ate out for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. That's one of the reasons my weight was where it was.
"One of the initial challenges I had with NutriMost was getting my portions right, learning that my limit for meat was equal to the size of my hand. I cooked a lot with my George Foreman Grill. Once I had everything in place, it was not difficult to stick with the program. I've learned about portion control. I've also learned that you can cheat from time to time, but you have to get right back with the program the next day."

Life in Balance Tip: Fresh and local produce is the best.
One of the nice things about living in Northeast Florida is that we’re in a region with an excellent climate for growing a wide variety of produce. When we go to a place like the local farmers' markets at the Arts' Walk, or on Beaver Street, or even the produce sections at flea markets, we can purchase lots of nutritious food that's very fresh and has no preservatives. Also, we can find fresh local produce throughout the year. In other parts of the country, there are times of the year when practically nothing edible can be grown.

When you get foods that are fresh and have no preservatives, you get food that nutritionally will give you more of a life in balance. Fresh produce is tastiest when it's "in season." Also, when produce is in season, there's normally lots of it. That actually keeps the pricing down. So, when fresh produce is at its best, it's also frequently available at its lowest price. For example, when watermelons are at their juiciest and tastiest, like they are right now, they also tend to be priced low because there are plenty of them.
At a farmers' market, you can actually talk to the people who grow the food and ask them how they do it. Those conversations can be very interesting and illuminating. At the Riverside Arts' Walk, you can even get a calendar which shows what is in season from month to month. That information will help you to plan meals that are both nutritious and delicious.
The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services has a website called Fresh From Florida, which makes the case for buying local. It also has information on what's in season from month to month. Weather conditions and other factors may shift the seasons a bit for any crop. Still, the experts have a pretty good idea of what grows and when.
So what's in season right now? Avocado, Watermelon, Mushrooms, Passion Fruit, Mango, Lychee, Carambola, Guava, Longan, Peanut
Many foods in the list above will continue to be available through August. If you’ve never tried these foods, I encourage you to do so. When you get adventurous with food, you sometimes find new things that you and/or members of your family really enjoy. Here are a few additional resources for information about the benefits of buying locally grown produce.
